Dr Sipho Ntshalintshali

Rheumatologist

Driven by a deep interest in immunology, Dr Ntshalintshali gained extensive experience in Clinical Immunology and Allergy at Groote Schuur Hospital and the University of Cape Town (UCT). In 2019, he completed the Advanced Course in Clinical Immunology through the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FOCIS) and the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS) in the USA. This strong foundation in immunology inspired his pursuit of Rheumatology. 

 

He joined Tygerberg Hospital and Stellenbosch University, completing both an MPhil in Rheumatology and a Fellowship in Rheumatology through the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) in 2021. That same year, he obtained the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) Certificate in Rheumatology. He is also trained in musculoskeletal ultrasonography, having attended multiple local and international courses and is currently pursuing a PhD focused on innovations in the early diagnosis of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) in developing countries.

 

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Ntshalintshali has held several academic and leadership roles. He was recently appointed Head of Rheumatology at Greys Hospital and Adjunct Lecturer in Rheumatology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research at both local and international conferences, including EULAR, ACR, and ALLSA, where he has earned multiple awards. He serves as an Associate Editor of the African Journal of Rheumatology (AFLAR journal) and is a board member of Umkhuseli Innovation and Research Management (UIRM), a non-profit organisation supporting local and international research initiatives in South Africa.

Dr Sipho Ntshalintshali is a specialist in rheumatology and recently joined the team specialists at Life Kingsbury Hospital.

 

Originally from Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Ntshalintshali earned his MBChB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2008. He completed his medical internship at the Port Elizabeth Hospital Complex in 2010 and served as a Medical Officer at Port Shepstone Regional Hospital, where his experience laid the foundation for a career in Internal Medicine. He subsequently completed a Fellowship of the College of Physicians (FCP) and earned his Master of Medicine (MMed) in Internal Medicine from UKZN in 2018.
